Leaving in South Carolina, close to the shore of Atlantic Ocean, I decided that I should compete in a race on the beach. At the beginning of September, on the Hilton Head Island beach, there were around 200 runners some for the 5 k and others for the half marathon. We had a short meeting before the run and the race organizers stressed the importance of hydration. Because it was low tide, the beach was wide.

At the beginning of the race the tempo was alert, but the temperature (30 C) and the high level of humidity (around 90%), took their toll on us.

At the end of the race, more and more people showed for a day at the beach, some cheering us up other were amazed by what we were doing.
