Friday, August 19 we headed toward another peak from Kananaskis Range, Mount Kidd. This is located 33 km south on Highway 40 from the intersection withTrans-Canada Highway.

From Galatea Creek parking lot, the two tops of Mount Kidd are visible: on the left side South Peak (2895 m), where on its lower parts, during winter time a nice icefall forms, and on the right side, our destination.

After we crossed the Kananaskis River, we continued parallel with this one untill we intersected the valley that separates the south and the main summit. The spring that flows here forms few nice waterfalls, which we passed on the right side after an easy climb.

After we encountered a patch of snow, we continued on the right toward the ridge.

The last part of the route was covered with scree, so it was difficult to hike. Each one tried to find an “easier path” to the top.

The picture on the top with the telecommunication repeater. Because of the haze the visibility was low so we could not enjoy the scenery.

On our way down, a section that we hiked on adherence, required a careful descend because of the snow patch (it had many rocks on its surface).

After 9 hours and 1350m hiked up, we returned to the car.
