Rundle is an uplift of 12 km long, visible from Trans - Canada Highway, between Canmore and Banff.

A view of the ridge, the picture was taken during a break on our hike on Lady McDonald.

The eastern end of the ridge is called, obviously, East End of Rundle and involves a pretty easy hiking, the elevation gain being around 900m.

A snapshot of the mountain from Lawarance Grassi.

Sunday, April 29, despite of an unfavorable weather forecast, we left Calgary and headed to this mountain. After we spent some time looking for the trailhead, we started to hike through the forest. The slope gained fast altitude, especially because the trail doesn’t have too many serpentines.

After we passed the forest skirts, we encountered windy and snowy conditions. All of these corroborate with the snow dept, made it difficult to find our way up. We were lucky that we found some traces made by other hikers in a previous day.

Crossing beneath a rock belt that was close to the ridge.

On the ridge we were “welcomed” by winter conditions.

The picture on the top, not too much to see because of the fog.

On the way down the weather improved therefore, we ate a sandwich.

A look towards the ridge.

Other mountain ridges, other hiking ideas…

Ha Ling Peak and Lawrence Grassi on the way down.
