It is almost mid-November and to our surprise, the famous Canadian winter haven't shown its face yet. The temperature drops under 0c only at night time. The ski season must wait for another few weeks.... this is how we thought when we decided for another Sunday hike. Snow Peak is an easy day hike which doesn't disappoint by anything....excellent views all the way up. Unfortunately, our old photo camera decided to "die" during this trip. ![]() The access is from Smith Dorrien Road (Spray Lake Road). The parking lot is marked with "Burstall Pass", just across from another well known parking lot, the one for Chester Lake. The trail is very clear as it is used for cross country skiing and for mountain biking for few kilometers. We didn't had to go too far to realize the winter has indeed come already in Kananaskis and it will be soon in Calgary as well.
![]() It was beautiful day, with clear sky and fog sometimes, which created "surreal" lights and shadows. But the pictures speaks better than I do....
![]() Commonwealth Peak can be hiked on a route coming from another valley. ![]() Mount Birdwood ![]() Whistling Rock Ridge ![]() Mount Robertson and Robertson Glacier from Burstall Pass Trail ![]() Descending from Snow Peak, when the fog lifted, I could admire Mount Sir Douglas. ![]() Mount Chester and The Fortress ![]() Leman Lake, which drains in Spary River ![]() All pictures are courtesy of Razvan and Diana. Thank you ...
