At the beginning of January, due to the deep snow and the hazard of avalanches on high peaks, we decided to hike Yamnuska. This area is well known to the climbers because of the numerous climbing routes ranging from 5.6 up to 5.11.

From the parking lot we followed a trail that leaded us to the eastern side of the wall. From this point, we were able to examine it closer.

On the northern side, the mountain is accessible for hiking. The slope is covered with lots of scree.

The crux involves a traverse with some exposure, but if you are careful, there will be not problems.

A picture from the top, on the right side there is the ridge that connects Door Jamb and Loader Peak.

After we looked at the wall from the edge, we descended on the western side of the mountain. From here on, we continued under the wall looking for climbing routes. We “skied” on the scree towards parking lot.
